Week 9: Thing 23

Well, I can't believe I've made it through the 23 things! It has been an interesting journey. I really enjoyed parts of this course and I struggled through others. You Tube was fun, and I was glad to learn about the on-line tools that are available. This enabled me to learn several things that I would not have ordinarily taken the time to learn. It also reminded me that it is important to keep learning - lifelong learning should not be put on a back burner. As to weather or not I would take another course like this - I'd have to think about it, but I probably would be game! I'm glad I was able to finish. Thanks for the experience.

Week 9: Thing 22

I established an Overdrive account and explored titles there. I did locate Sandra Brown's Breath of Scandal that was available to download. I think this is a good option for some, but I'm surprised you can't download to an i-pod.

Week 9: Thing 21

I was surprized that so many of the podcasts were, what I considered, pretty long. I did find some interesting library related podcasts. I added a podcast to my Bloglines account. I found that the subject directories were very useful.

Week 9: Thing 20

I find You Tube very interesting and I think that you can find more than you'd want to on there! I didn't do too much exploring because of the time of day and our streaming issues, but I found the library domino video and added it to my blog. I like the site because it can be very entertaining. I'm sure there are plenty of educational videos that would be beneficial if they were applied to library websites.

Week 8: Thing 19

I've been exploring the Web 2.0 Awards. Again, this is a site I think I will come back to to do some additional exploring. Looks like lots of good stuff. I liked the categories you could click on. This could be a useful research tool in the library setting.

Week 8: Thing 18

As you can see, I've been checking out Zoho and published a "document" over there. I think this is a great option when documents are going from one pc to another. This is something that I think I will be using in the future.

This is a document I am creating for this exercise.  I added atemplate, but I do not know how to get to it!!  Let's see if I can add anything else.  kiss !!

Week 7: Thing 17

I've just explored the Sandbox Wiki Favorites. I created a new page and added it to the list. Either I'm getting a little better at doing this stuff or this was a little easier.

Week 7: Thing 16

I have been checking out a lot of wikis this evening. I think this would be a great place to look for travel information for a specific city - constantly being updated by people who would know best. Applications in libraries might be community information or resource gathering. This is something that I think I would like to explore further when I have more time to do so.

Week 6: Thing 15

WOW!!! Very interesting perspectives on libraries and their future. It will be interesting to see what libraries evolve into as the years roll on.

Week 6: Thing 14

I've been checking out Technorati. Lots of blogging going on. Big difference in the amount of blogs in posts and tags and blog directory. I'm very surprized that there are so many blogs out there.

Week 6: Thing 13

Although I was unable to view the recommended tutorial (error message), I did view Us.ef.ul: A beginners guide to Del.icio.us. I explored the site options and clicked on several bookmarks. I can see this as an excellent research tool - accessibility to lots of information using specific tags.

Week 5: Thing 12

Well, I'm on a roll tonight!! I thought the Rollyo was pretty interesting. I did mine on travel. I can see where this tool could come in handy.

Week 5: Thing 11

This post is about the Library Thing catalog. As you can see, I've included some of my favorite books, as well as a link to my Library Thing catalog. I'll have to go back and add more titles when I get the chance. Looks like the site gives lots of interesting details about each selected book.

Week 5: Thing 10

As you can see, I've put my avatar in my blog. It was fun to make, but a little confusing figuring out how to get it to my blog! I was successful!

Week 4, Thing 9

Ok. Until you stop to think about it, you just don't realize how much information is out there. I guess I liked searching on Bloglines the best. The search tools that were listed had some very interesting items on them. I think I've been exposed to enough new information today!!!

Week 4, Thing 8

It's been a long time between posts. I've been on vacation and things have been busy in the branch. I think RSS feeds are an interesting concept. It's nice having the information coming to you, however, I'll have to try and get into the habit of checking my bloglines account if I want to actually read all this new info.

Week 3: Thing 7

I am behind the times when it comes to technology. I do find digital cameras interesting and I am planning to learn how to use one. At this time, however, I still use my 35 mm camera that requires film. My children can't believe that I'm so behind the times. I must admit that it is nice to immediately know whether you got the shot you wanted or if someone had their eyes closed, etc. I also think it's great that pictures can be shared on line so quickly. I viewed wedding pictures on line that I would have probably never had the chance to see otherwise. One of my goals this summer is to learn how to use a digital camera and take advantage of all of this technology that's available these days.

Week 3; Thing 6

I have taken some time and explored quite a few Flickr sites. I really can't narrow it down to one thing that intrigued me. I find it fascinating that people can be so creative. It makes me feel rather unimaginative.

Week 3: Thing 5

I have been exploring Flickr and trying to find my way around. I did post 2 pictures on my blog. I'm hoping I can figure out how to change one of the pictures and how to get my blog name back on top of the page. Obviously, I've still got a lot to learn!

Week 2: Thing 4

Well, I've registerd this blog and am waiting to get officially on board. Had a little confusion about the google e-mail, but I got that resolved. I'm a little apprehensive about Flicker - next week's thing, but I'm sure that with a little help, I'll figure it out.

Week 2: Thing 3

This is my first blog experience. I've had help from several co-workers and we've even had a little fun with it.

Week 1: Thing 2

This was the lifelong learning thing. I think I need to work on these learning habits a bit. The older I get, the more important it is to keep learning and keep the mind working - even though I think that sometimes its more of a challenge.

Week 1: Thing 1

The adventure begins. This will be a challenging experience. The program should be interesting to say the least!!

1st Test Post

This is a test post in my newly created blog. I feel very computer literate at the moment!! I think the hardest habit of lifelong learners for me is the use of technology to my advantage -I'm kinda technology challenged. The easiest habit is to accept responsibility for my own learning. This should be interesting.
